The Nashville-based singer-songwriter, producer, multi-instrumentalist and recording artist has announced his EP Numb, which is out now. Alongside the announcement, Ty Ellenbogen also shared a new video.
During a prolonged period of internal struggle, Ty Ellenbogen found himself shut off from all feeling, including the good. Rather than search for the answers he didn’t yet have, the songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist decided to keep moving forward. He knew that to find his way out, he had to go through the hard stretch. Now, embracing that healing isn’t certain, he’s pursuing what gives his life meaning and refuses to allow his struggle to dictate what comes next.
Since he was nine years old, Ty Ellenbogen has been dedicated to music. He began playing the guitar, drums and saxophone at that age, before starting to write songs and self-produce music at 16. It wasn’t until the COVID-19 pandemic that he really came to appreciate music’s ability to transcend physical, social and emotional barriers to connect people. This newfound appreciation for how music impacts those who listen to it remains with him to this day, with the belief that no one who listens to it is ever truly alone. This is something that shapes not just his songwriting, but also the stories that he chooses to tell.
Although Ty’s original music mainly sits within the realms of pop, indie and R&B, growing up, he was also extensively exposed to jazz and classical music. His influences include 1970s and 1980s soft rock and R&B, singer-songwriters from the early 2000s, as well as more recent artists like Olivia Dean, FINNEAS and Sabrina Carpenter. With all of these influences, Ty is able to deliver music with thoughtful lyrics, memorable melodies, soulful instrumentation and a sound that feels incredibly personal, but is easy to approach and relate to, allowing listeners to find a space where they can recognise their own experiences and feel seen and understood in a way that feels like they can connect when it matters most.
