Bob Dylan’s The Rolling Thunder Revue: The 1976 Live Recordings is out now, assembling a vast record of the tour’s second leg.
Released November 6 by Columbia and Legacy, the 39-CD collection contains 381 tracks. Of those, 371 had not previously been released, according to Dylan’s official announcement.
The recordings follow the 1976 run from Lakeland, Florida, to Salt Lake City. They document almost all of the leg’s 27 dates, giving the set a scope beyond a single concert.
A separate three-LP edition focuses on Fort Worth’s May 16 performance. That 22-track release was remixed from the original multitrack recordings.
The larger collection also includes the complete May 23 Fort Collins recording associated with the Hard Rain television special. Joan Baez duets form another part of the archive.
Dylan’s touring musicians included Scarlet Rivera, Rob Stoner, Mick Ronson and T-Bone Burnett. The package pairs the recordings with rare photographs and an essay by Mikal Gilmore.
The two editions offer different ways into this tour: an extensive chronological archive or a focused concert document. Full release details are available through Dylan’s official announcement.
