The B-52s’ next Hollywood appearance will celebrate their recorded legacy, with an October 29 star ceremony scheduled outside Amoeba Music.

The B-52s will receive the Hollywood Walk of Fame’s 2,861st star on Thursday, October 29, at 11:30 a.m. PT. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce announcement places the dedication at 6212 Hollywood Boulevard, directly in front of Amoeba Music.

The ceremony will bring together musicians and a familiar comedy voice. SiriusXM personality Richard Blade is set to host, while The Go-Go’s and Fred Armisen are the announced guest speakers. The band’s star will be awarded in the Recording category.

The setting offers a public marker for a group that began far from Hollywood. In its official biography, the band traces its beginnings to Athens, Georgia, in October 1976, followed by a first performance at a friend’s house on Valentine’s Day 1977.

The original lineup built its audience through songs and a distinctive visual identity. Fred Schneider, Kate Pierson, Cindy Wilson, Ricky Wilson and Keith Strickland took their thrift-store style to New York club stages. Chris Blackwell produced their self-titled debut, which introduced “Rock Lobster” and “52 Girls” to a wider audience.

The catalogue subsequently expanded through Wild Planet, Mesopotamia and Whammy! before the Don Was and Nile Rodgers-produced Cosmic Thing arrived in 1989. That record brought “Love Shack,” “Roam” and “Deadbeat Club,” giving the band another entry point for listeners beyond its early post-punk following.

Fans will also be able to follow the dedication remotely. Organizers say the ceremony will stream exclusively on the Walk of Fame website. The announced event is a star presentation, with the host and speakers confirmed; the release does not announce a musical performance.
