Miley kicks off her latest era with a bass-heavy new single and a striking visual built around movement, nightlife and getting away from the screen.
Miley has released the official music video for “Bass Persuades,” the title track and first single from her upcoming 10th studio album. Directed by longtime collaborator Mert Alas, the visual arrived alongside the song on September 3 and introduces the pop star’s new chapter under the mononym Miley.
The track leans into dance-pop with an ’80s-inspired synth pulse while its message pushes listeners to put down their phones and reconnect with the dance floor. That idea carries directly into the video, where Miley turns the song’s invitation to move into a full-scale night out.
Visually, the clip puts Miley in a series of black looks, including leather pieces, stockings and heels, as she performs alongside a growing group of dancers. The choreography expands as the video progresses, eventually taking the energy beyond the interior setting and out into the city streets.
“Bass Persuades” also serves as the opening statement for Miley’s next album of the same name, which is due September 18 via Atlantic Records. The project follows 2025’s Something Beautiful, with Miley describing the new album’s title as a reflection of the way music can take hold of people through different emotions and experiences.
The new video arrives just weeks before Miley brings the era to the stage with two scheduled shows at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on October 16 and October 18. For now, “Bass Persuades” offers the first full look and sound of the album campaign, pairing a club-ready record with a visual that makes dancing its central focus.
