Some people do not realize they are meant to do music until later in life. For Tav13n, the moment came early and once it happened everything changed. His name is pronounced Tay vee en. It is his real name with the number 13 replacing the letters IE. The number 13 represents the age when music became serious for him.
Growing Up in Grand Rapids
Tav13n is from Grand Rapids, Michigan. His childhood came with challenges. He grew up living in his grandparents house with his father in an area that was not the safest. His dad was also a music artist. When Tav13n was only six years old, his father was in a car accident and became paralyzed from the waist down.
Many people would have stopped chasing goals after something like that, but his dad refused to quit. He kept making music and never let his situation stop him. Watching that as a child showed Tav13n what real passion looks like. Music became more than sound to him. It became something that gave purpose and direction.
The First Turning Point
He started writing music and freestyling at 13. Things changed at 15 when he made his first official song for a school project that involved multiple schools. That song led to a performance at The Hamilton play in Chicago in front of a huge audience.
When he went on stage he did not choke. He owned the moment. After the performance people he had never seen before came up to him congratulating him. Students from other schools knew who he was. That feeling made him realize he did not want music to be a hobby. He wanted a career.
Finding His Sound
It is almost impossible to fit his music into one category. He makes rap, EDM, RNB, alternative, and pop. He creates whatever feels right at the moment. If he feels something, he turns it into a sound.
He is not a professional guitar or bass player, but he knows how to use both well enough to get ideas out. He learns by trying things and figuring them out along the way.
The Artists Who Shaped Him
His biggest influences are Juice Wrld, Xxxtentacion, and his father. They express emotion and speak honestly in their music. That is what he relates to.
Learning the Industry
In only three years he went from not knowing how to mix at all to working around real names. He interned and learned from artists like Jeremih and Roccstar. He took the time to understand what he was doing instead of waiting for someone else to do it for him. Everything he knows now came from practice and time invested.
The Vault
On October 24 2025 he released an EP called The Vault. He mixed and mastered it himself. The project was created to show how versatile he is. It proves he is not limited to one sound or style.
A Moment He Will Never Forget
One of his most memorable moments so far was playing his music for Jeremihs cousin and receiving real recognition. It was not forced praise. It was genuine respect. That type of moment stays with you.
What Comes Next
He has around 300 unreleased songs saved and 14 singles ready to drop. He has new music coming before the year ends and more releases planned after that. He is not waiting for the right time. He is making the time.
If there is one thing to know about Tav13n, it is this. He does not talk about what he wants to do. He does it. He is young, he is focused, and he is still growing. The world is going to hear his name for a long time.
