Ramirez (@ramirez_187) is a San Francisco rapper who puts depth and meaning into everything he creates. He recently opened up about the inspiration behind his latest EP, Brabus & Lorinsers, and how it goes beyond luxury cars.
The EP takes its title from two Mercedes-Benz tuning houses, Brabus and Lorinser, whose attention to detail and design became a metaphor for the kind of music Ramirez wanted to create.
“The title, Brabus & Lorinsers, comes from the admiration for the precision of Mercedes-Benz tuning lines,” Ramirez explains.
The fascination isn’t simply about status. Ramirez says he views the vehicles as examples of craftsmanship, engineering and aesthetic precision.
“I view them as one of the most beautiful examples of auto-making and engineering,” he says. “I truly respect and admire the work that Mercedes-Benz does with their line of cars.”
That appreciation became central to the project’s visual world as well, with Mercedes vehicles appearing throughout the cover art and accompanying imagery.
Sonically, Ramirez describes the EP as a “late night money getting atmospheric vibe,” an aesthetic that matches the sleek automotive references surrounding the release. Producer Morris helped translate that vision into music.
“I would say he is the architect of the album’s sound,” Ramirez says.
Rather than relying solely on contemporary rap production, Ramirez and Morris reached backward for inspiration, pulling from ’90s R&B and ’80s synth-pop and filtering those influences through a modern lens.
“We were just trying to integrate those nostalgic textures and sounds into the modern rap space that we live and hear today,” Ramirez explains.
The result reflects a broader theme in Ramirez’s career: refinement without restriction.
His music continues to evolve, but the goal isn’t necessarily to abandon familiar territory. It’s to fine-tune it, much like the automotive companies that inspired the EP’s name.
And for an artist intent on proving he can move between genres without being boxed in, that sense of precision feels fitting.
