Born and raised in Newburgh, NY, Ovi Jozi’s music is deeply inspired by his childhood, his dreams, and the personal evolution that came from overcoming struggle. With roots in gospel and Haitian Kompa—genres he grew up with in a strict household where rap wasn’t allowed—his love for Hip-Hop began when he first heard Jay-Z through his older brother’s stereo.
“I knew I always wanted to create music but couldn’t express it at first,” Ovi says. “Once I heard ‘H to the O.V.’ I knew I had to find that sound and make something of my own. That’s when I started sneaking into my brother’s room and even freestyling on his instrumentals.”
Now, years later, that same spark of curiosity has evolved into a full-fledged music career grounded in purpose.
The EP’s title, High Risk, High Reward reflects Ovi’s journey over the last two years—one filled with bold decisions, uncertainty, and sacrifice. Though the risks often came with missed opportunities, Ovi insists that the few wins he gained were powerful enough to overshadow any loss.
“I took risks every month—not just in music, but in life,” he says. “Even when things didn’t go my way, the progress I did make showed me it was all worth it.”
Listeners can expect an energizing and versatile sonic experience—designed to inspire ambition, get people moving, and speak directly to both male and female fans.
The EP features production from a tight-knit team of rising beatmakers including Avo.MC, Cloud, DB!, Chiveer, Ankorbeats, and standout producer Marni, whose sound Ovi calls his personal favorite. He also linked with fellow artists Keen Streetz on the hard-hitting “Hardknocks” and Wavesongianni on the smooth, vibey track “Body.”
