ORIMUS Unveils Debut Album MERAKI: A Genre-Bending Journey of Soul and Sound

Berlin-based producer and artist ORIMUS, formerly known as Aneesh Chengappa, has officially introduced his artistic rebirth with the release of his debut album, MERAKI. Born in New Delhi, India and now living in Germany’s cultural capital, ORIMUS brings a global sensibility to his work—blending tradition, technology, and raw emotion into a truly unique sonic identity.

Released on May 2, 2025, MERAKI is more than an album—it’s a personal manifesto. The title itself, drawn from a Greek word meaning “to put your soul, love, and creativity into your work,” perfectly captures the energy and intention behind the project. Each track reflects ORIMUS’s inner evolution and creative depth, pulling listeners into immersive soundscapes that challenge the boundaries of electronic music.

Musically, MERAKI is fearless. It fuses Hindustani fusion and Middle Eastern textures with house, future bass, and cinematic orchestration. The result is a genre-defying experience that walks the line between ancient and modern, organic and synthetic. Live instrumentation meets meticulous electronic production, forming an emotional and expressive body of work that resonates deeply while remaining technically forward-thinking.

One of the album’s key inspirations was Zedd’s TELOS, a project that pushed ORIMUS not just to create an album, but to build an expansive narrative world of sound. Much like his influences—Zedd, KSHMR, and FKJ—ORIMUS places storytelling at the forefront of his production, allowing each song to serve as a chapter in a broader journey of introspection and discovery.

Whether you’re a fan of high-energy production or emotionally resonant music, MERAKI offers a little of everything. It doesn’t follow trends—it creates its own path. And for ORIMUS, this is just the beginning of a new chapter in artistry.

With MERAKI, ORIMUS redefines what modern electronic music can be—emotive, boundaryless, and undeniably human.
