KinoBeats and Curren$y Revisit the Matching Rolexes Era With “Barbed Wire Fence Remix”

By

KinoBeats and Curren$y reconnect on “Barbed Wire Fence Remix,” bringing Calboy, Trae Tha Truth and Duke Deuce into a familiar record from their Matching Rolexes era for a new all-star update.

KinoBeats and Curren$y are running it back. The producer and New Orleans rap veteran have reunited for “Barbed Wire Fence Remix,” a new release featuring Calboy, Trae Tha Truth and Duke Deuce.

The record revisits the instrumental first heard on KinoBeats and Curren$y’s collaborative album Matching Rolexes, which arrived on September 17, 2021. Co-produced by KinoBeats and Trauma Tone, the remix takes that original foundation and expands it with a lineup representing several different corners of hip-hop.

Curren$y brings the laid-back New Orleans presence that has defined his career, while Chicago’s Calboy, Houston veteran Trae Tha Truth and Memphis standout Duke Deuce each bring their own distinct style to the track. Rather than simply recreating the original, the new version gives the Matching Rolexes record a different energy through the chemistry of its expanded cast.

The release also comes as KinoBeats continues building his presence beyond traditional production and touring. Recently, he has been putting more attention into streaming and live content through Nero, including 24-hour livestreams alongside fellow producer Sonny Digital.

That move gives fans another window into KinoBeats’ world outside of finished records. Through the livestreams, listeners are able to see more of his personality, creative approach and day-to-day process while music remains at the center of everything he is building.

For KinoBeats, “Barbed Wire Fence Remix” connects his past work with Curren$y to the next stage of his career. Nearly five years after Matching Rolexes, the two collaborators have found a way to revisit that era without simply repeating it, using the remix to introduce new voices and a fresh perspective to the record.

With new music, collaborations and streaming content all in motion, KinoBeats appears focused on expanding the world around his production while continuing to strengthen the catalog that first established his name. “Barbed Wire Fence Remix” serves as both a callback to Matching Rolexes and a preview of what could be another active stretch for the producer.
