Squeeze Cancel Virginia Concert After Worker Dies in Tour Bus Accident

Squeeze called off a Virginia concert after a worker was killed beneath a tour bus in the venue parking lot just hours before the band was due onstage.

Squeeze canceled their Sept. 3 concert at Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts in Vienna, Virginia, after a fatal tour bus accident in the venue’s parking lot. Rolling Stone reports that the worker was killed before the British band’s scheduled performance, which had been set to begin at 7:30 p.m.

U.S. Park Police officers responded to the venue around 5 p.m., according to local reporting cited by the outlet. Authorities said the man was working underneath a tour bus when a supporting apparatus failed and the vehicle came down on him; he was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity had not been publicly released at the time of reporting.

Wolf Trap announced the cancellation shortly after the incident, saying there had been an accident involving a member of the community and that the show would not go forward “out of respect.” The venue did not publicly identify the victim or specify whose tour bus was involved, and reports have likewise not established that the vehicle belonged to Squeeze.

Squeeze later addressed the tragedy in a statement, saying the band was “deeply saddened and shocked” by the death. The group said the decision to cancel was made after discussions with the venue and authorities, while noting that it was working with the promoter and Wolf Trap on whether the date could be rescheduled.

The Virginia stop was part of Squeeze’s 2026 North American run, which features Adam Ant and Haircut 100 on select dates. The band is touring behind Trixies, its first album of new material in eight years, released in March as Squeeze continues a career that stretches back more than five decades.

No rescheduled date for the Wolf Trap concert had been announced as of the latest update. Squeeze said further information would be shared with ticket holders as arrangements become clearer following the fatal incident.
