Hyoyeon, Yuri and Sooyoung have turned a playful unit concept into a full-fledged Girls’ Generation spinoff with a two-song debut built around “Skibidi.”

Girls’ Generation-HRS “Skibidi” has officially arrived, with Hyoyeon, Yuri and Sooyoung releasing the new unit’s debut digital single on August 31 through SM Entertainment. The trio marks the latest subunit to emerge from the long-running K-pop group.

The release pairs the title track “Skibidi” with the B-side “Lowkey In Love,” giving HRS a compact two-song introduction. “Skibidi” moves from house into hip-hop, while SM Entertainment has described its message as one of creating a new path together.

“Lowkey In Love” takes a different route, leaning into dance-pop with a retro-inspired feel, bright brass, rhythmic grooves and a catchy melody. Together, the two tracks are designed to show the unit’s upbeat energy while giving Hyoyeon, Yuri and Sooyoung room to establish an identity apart from Girls’ Generation’s full-group releases.

The debut also comes with an official performance video that puts the focus on the trio’s choreography and chemistry. HRS had already previewed both songs live at the 2026 CassCool Festival on August 22 at Seoul Land in Gwacheon, South Korea, before the digital release arrived.

The unit itself grew out of Hyoyeon’s “Hyo’s Level Up” YouTube content, where the three members played with the idea of competing for key positions such as main vocalist and center. What began as a lighthearted concept eventually developed into an official SM Entertainment project and a formal Girls’ Generation subunit.

Hyoyeon, Yuri and Sooyoung also have history performing together beyond the new HRS name. During Girls’ Generation’s 2015–2016 Phantasia Tour, the trio appeared as S.H.Y and performed a cover of Salt-N-Pepa’s “Push It,” giving longtime fans an earlier glimpse of the chemistry now being carried into the Girls’ Generation-HRS debut.
