Hi, how are you today?
I’m great!
What is your full legal name?
Shareen Monteiro.
When and where were you born?
December 19th, 2000 & Boston, Massachusetts.
Who raised you growing up?
I was raised by my Mom and Dad.
What is your ethnic background?
Cape Verdean & Portuguese.
Did you finish school or college?
I got my hiset/GED equivalent.
How did that impact your career?
I wished I could’ve furthered my education, but I’m currently back in school.
When did you start making music?
I’ve been making music all my life, but seriously pursued it in 2020.
What skills do you think artists need to be successful?
An open mind and a high guard, be ready to learn. Treat your career like it’s school.
How do you stay up to date with the latest music trends?
I set the trends. Everybody’s different in their own special way, so I just vibe out and people happen to follow suit.
When performing, what techniques do you use to engage the audience?
I like to turn up. I always have “Life of the party” energy, there’s really no telling what ima do. As long as I make people smile.
What would you say is the most rewarding part of being an artist?
That people can relate. I just be venting on a song and somehow people understand it. And that’s a feel good.
How does your content online make you stand out as an artist?
I try to let my music speak for itself, I genuinely think it’s the aura like on and off the net can make you stand out.
What makes you different from other artists?
I don’t sound like anybody else as far as I can think of. I feel like I’m floating when I’m making music. And I make it make sense.
Last question, when not making music, where can we find you?
Somewhere advocating for visually impaired people. I’m low vision or what you guys call legally blind. So I make sure to raise awareness for all of the young women with low vision.
