Dead Man’s Bones have released “Lost in the Night,” turning their recent return teaser into the duo’s first new music in 17 years.

The wait after Dead Man’s Bones’ recent comeback tease has ended with an actual recording. Ryan Gosling and Zach Shields have shared “Lost in the Night” through ANTI-, their first new release since the band’s self-titled 2009 album.

The pair produced the song with Tim Anderson. According to the label’s account of the sessions, the recording came together after work in several Los Angeles studios led them toward a more stripped-down setting outside the city.

At a farm outside Los Angeles, they worked with two guitars, two drum machines and two synthesizers. The recording was completed in a day, making a modest collection of instruments part of the story behind a long-awaited return.

A black-and-white video starring Rain Spencer and Noah Jupe accompanies the track. As Rolling Stone Australia reports, its imagery moves from a cemetery into a nighttime city journey, giving the release a visual narrative of its own.

The earlier album paired the duo with the Silverlake Conservatory Children’s Choir. That collaboration remains a defining detail of their debut, but this new single arrives as a separate recording rather than an announced reissue of that project.

For now, the confirmed return is the song and its accompanying video. No further album has been announced, so “Lost in the Night” stands as the first concrete new chapter after the teaser, not confirmation of a larger release schedule.
