Denver artist ARGYRO brings the glamour and romantic illusions of Los Angeles into focus on “She’s So LA” and its Elgin Cahill-directed video.
On “She’s So LA,” ARGYRO turns a city’s reputation into the personality of a woman who commands his attention. The Denver-based singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and actor, also known as Scott Argiro, builds the song around the attraction of Hollywood confidence, carefully presented glamour and the promise of a more exciting life. Its accompanying music video gives that character-driven pop-rock story a visual setting.
The track belongs to the world of Glitterati, Argiro’s album exploring celebrity, romance, identity and the uncertain boundary between authenticity and illusion. Here, those concerns take an intimate form: fascination with one person becomes fascination with everything she appears to represent. Los Angeles supplies the atmosphere, while the romantic encounter gives the larger themes a human center.
Argiro wrote and recorded the song in Denver, performing every studio instrument and vocal apart from the lead and rhythm guitars, which were played by Damon Wood. That division of responsibilities places Argiro’s songwriting and multi-instrumental approach at the core of the recording, with Wood contributing the guitar parts that connect its melodic pop foundation to its rock identity. Denver’s Jesse O’Brien handled mixing and mastering.
The woman in “She’s So LA” carries the song’s ideas about image without becoming a lesson in the dangers of appearances. Argiro approaches her with fascination, leaving room for both the pleasure of the spectacle and an awareness of how carefully it may have been constructed. That tension gives the story its shape: the attraction is genuine, even when the dream surrounding it may be difficult to separate from performance.
Argiro’s acting background provides a natural connection between that musical character study and the screen. Denver filmmaker Elgin Cahill directed the official video, extending the song’s emphasis on atmosphere, personality and visual storytelling. The collaboration brings the musician’s two creative disciplines together around a subject already rich with cinematic associations.
There is also a revealing distance between the song’s setting and its creation. This portrait of California glamour was made in Colorado, where Argiro and his collaborators shaped a story about a place whose influence reaches well beyond its borders. The contrast underscores the central idea of “She’s So LA”: a city can become an imagined way of living, and a person can seem to embody that entire possibility.
Within Glitterati, the song brings romantic curiosity to the album’s wider interest in modern image-making. Its combination of pop-rock songwriting, hands-on musicianship and visual narrative keeps the focus on how the fantasy takes hold.
