Taylor Swift is opening up about how her team preserved the feeling of the Eras Tour for its final concert film as the Disney+ special heads into the 2026 Emmys with five nominations.
Taylor Swift discussed The Eras Tour: The Final Show during an intimate Los Angeles event with Emmy voters, reflecting on the work that went into translating the scale and atmosphere of the tour to the screen. According to Deadline, Swift appeared at Ross House alongside director Glenn Weiss and sound designer John Ross in support of the project’s awards campaign.
Swift said one of the tour’s most important qualities was the sense of escape it gave audiences, and that preserving that feeling became a key part of conversations with Weiss. “One that I know that is really important is that it was a source of great escapism for the people who were there,” she said while discussing what made the live experience resonate so strongly.
The singer explained that the filmmaking team wanted viewers to retain the same sense of freedom fans felt inside the stadium. She credited Weiss with creating a setup that allowed concertgoers to remain immersed in the moment while cameras captured the performance, noting that extensive rehearsals with Swift and her dancers helped make that possible.
Swift also highlighted the physical coordination required behind the camera, joking, “If you liked the choreography that you saw of our dancers, you should have seen the footwork of our Steadicam operator.” The remark underscored how much of the concert film’s execution depended on camera crews moving through a tightly choreographed live production without disrupting the show itself.
Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour | The Final Show was filmed in Vancouver during the final date of the tour and premiered on Disney+ on December 12, 2025. The nearly three-and-a-half-hour film, directed by Weiss, documents the complete closing concert and includes the full The Tortured Poets Department section that was added to the tour after the album’s 2024 release.
The special earned five 2026 Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Variety Special (Pre-Recorded), Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special, Outstanding Picture Editing for Variety Programming, Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Variety Series or Special, and Outstanding Technical Direction and Camerawork for a Special. Swift is nominated as a producer and performer in the variety special category, adding another Emmy chapter to a career that already includes a 2015 win for AMEX Unstaged: Taylor Swift Experience.
