Tru:FRAZ brings the person, the storyteller and the troublemaker into the same frame on his independently recorded, 16-track debut album.
There are three names to keep in mind when approaching Tru:FRAZ’s Sesh Fiend Confession Tape: Fraser, Fraz and Frazzle. The debut, released September 30, 2026, uses those different sides of its creator to explore a turbulent stretch of his life across 16 tracks of underground hip-hop and boom bap.
Fraser is the individual living through it, Fraz turns the experiences into music, and Frazzle is the character who often sets the trouble in motion. That distinction gives the confession-tape idea substance, allowing the writer to look back at his own behaviour from more than one position. The phrase “detox to retox”, repeated throughout the Sesh Fiend era, neatly expresses the tension between wanting balance and returning to chaos.
The writing grew out of diary entries rather than a fixed album plan. As the songs accumulated, accounts of partying, addiction, relationships, grief and internal battles began to connect, revealing a larger story. His decision to keep both serious reflection and dark humour within that story is an important creative choice: it acknowledges the contradictions of the period without forcing every memory into the same mood.
That personal approach sits within a clear musical lineage. The Four Owls, Split Prophets, Task Force and Contact Play are among his UK underground reference points, while Eminem, Biggie and Wu-Tang belong to the hip-hop he grew up with. MANUEL, Lethal Needle, Daga, DUX, Balance Cooper, Hidden Stash and 3am contribute production to a project whose subject matter remains firmly rooted in his own experience.
The recording process followed the changes in his life, beginning in the UK and continuing in New Zealand, where Queenstown became a second home. Working from his own home-studio setup, he carried the album through that chapter before completing it in the UK in 2026, following his return at the end of 2025. The finished debut is therefore also a record of sustained independent work across two homes.
Tru:FRAZ takes a similarly active role in the artwork, creative direction and videos, which he edits himself. “Where U Been?”, his first proper single after his SoundCloud era, established that approach with a self-edited video combining Queenstown footage, the cliffs of Portugal and the space underneath the M40 near Uxbridge. His involvement across those different parts of the release gives the project a consistent personal point of view.
Sesh Fiend Confession Tape brings that work together with a willingness to examine the person behind the artist. Its central concept makes room for accountability, humour and the less comfortable parts of memory, while the independent recording and visual work demonstrate how much of the project he has taken on himself. For Tru:FRAZ, completing this debut is a tangible step forward in turning private writing into a body of work with a clear identity.
