Rodrigo Hoopper: The Artist Who Proves It’s Never Too Late to Start Over

Rodrigo Hoopper’s journey isn’t your typical music industry success story—yet. It’s raw, real, and still unfolding. But if there’s one thing he wants you to know, it’s this: it’s never too late to chase what sets your soul on fire.

A Name, A New Beginning

Born Rodrigo Silva in Brazil, he’s been through many stages—literally and figuratively. His artist name, Hoopper, came later, marking a fresh start as a solo musician after years of playing bass and singing in different bands. “I always knew music was my thing,” Rodrigo says. “But life took me in different directions before I finally decided: No more waiting.”

From Jandira to Milan: The Road Back to Music

Rodrigo’s musical roots trace back to Jandira, São Paulo, where he played in multiple bands and co-founded NEATA, a sadcore/slowcore group that made waves in the local scene. But as adulthood crept in, reality hit hard. Responsibilities took over, the band dissolved, and he moved to Panama—leaving music behind.

Then, in 2024, something changed.

“I turned 30, and I had this breakdown,” he admits. “I realized that not making music was slowly killing me inside. I needed to get back to it—not for fame, not for success, but because it’s who I am.”

Living in Milan, he picked up his instruments again—bass, guitar, piano, even drums—this time, creating and producing his own music from his home studio. It wasn’t just about playing anymore; it was about telling stories, sharing emotions, and connecting with people on a deeper level.

The Sound of Emotion

Rodrigo’s music blends melodic trap, emocore, and rock influences, but at its core, it’s about feeling something real. “I write from experience—sometimes mine, sometimes my friends’. I love deep conversations, metaphysics, emotions that hit hard. That’s what I want my music to be—something people can feel.”

The Struggles of an Independent Artist

Being an independent musician isn’t easy. “One of the biggest challenges? Getting people to listen,” he says. “I produce everything myself, which is cool because it gives me creative freedom, but it’s also tough because there’s only so much I can do alone.”

Marketing, recording, networking—he’s juggling it all while working full-time. “I use social media, run ads, do everything I can to grow. But the industry is tough, and people don’t always support emerging artists. That’s why, in the future, I want to help other small artists, too. We need each other to grow.”

What’s Next?

Rodrigo has big dreams, but they aren’t about awards or fame. “I just want to make music that moves people. If I can build a career doing what I love and create a community around it, that’s success to me.”

In the next few years, he hopes to record with his favorite artists, play shows across Europe, and build something bigger than just music—a space where people connect, feel, and grow together.

And if there’s one message he wants to leave behind? “Don’t wait. It’s never too late to start over.”
