Sublime’s self-titled album is receiving two distinct anniversary treatments, pairing a liquid-filled collector’s edition with a separately mastered Vinylphyle release.
Sublime’s 1996 album has returned in two commemorative vinyl editions for its 30th anniversary. UMe’s October 23 release announcement confirms that the “Paddle Out” liquid-filled edition and the black-vinyl Vinylphyle double LP are now available.
The two packages emphasize different aspects of collecting. “Paddle Out” uses custom liquid-filled discs, while Vinylphyle pairs 180-gram records pressed at RTI with new Nate Jackson liner notes and two archival photographs. Its initial pressing comprises 3,000 copies.
The mastering information is specific: Joe Nino-Hernes cut the Vinylphyle edition from a digital vinyl master assembled in 2016 under Michael “Miguel” Happoldt’s supervision. That master drew on final mixes in both analog and digital formats, rather than an exclusively analog source.
The four-sided tracklist retains the album’s familiar sequence. The official store listing begins with “Garden Grove,” followed by “What I Got” and “Wrong Way.” “Santeria” appears on side B, the namesake “Paddle Out” on side C, and “Doin’ Time” closes side D.
The anniversary revisits an album whose commercial reach developed over time. In its earlier reissue announcement, label-owned uDiscover notes that Sublime entered the Billboard 200 at No. 62 before eventually reaching No. 13 in July 1997, rather than arriving at its peak immediately.
The reissue year also brought a major certification milestone. uDiscover reports that the album received its RIAA Diamond certification in July 2026. Three decades after its original release, the new editions put that long-running catalogue success into two different physical formats without presenting the recordings as a new studio album.
