Sir Louie’s “Concrete” Connects Personal Growth With a Life in Montreal Music

Sir Louie’s “Concrete” connects a message of personal growth with his live-performance journey, PALA Jam events and A Few Reps EP with Ricardo Manuel.

With more than 150 performances and recurring PALA Jam events behind him, Sir Louie brings his message of Power and Love to “Concrete.”

For Sir Louie, building a music career has included building spaces where music happens. The Montreal rapper, freestyler and performer has developed his work through recurring jam sessions, community events and festival appearances. His song “Concrete,” from the collaborative EP A Few Reps with producer Ricardo Manuel, draws that larger journey into a personal message about continuing through difficulty.

Known offstage as Tyrus Facey, Sir Louie centers his work on Power and Love, pairing storytelling and freestyle with an intention to encourage personal growth. More than 150 performances form part of his experience, with the Montreal Jazz Festival’s Rogers Stage in 2025 standing among his major milestones. His path also includes the Northern Bars showcase at Atlanta’s A3C Festival in 2018 and an opening performance for Killah Priest in 2022.

The community side of that practice is especially visible in PALA Jam, the recurring improvised events he has hosted in Montreal from 2024 through 2026. The official Montréal en Lumière program listed a PALA Jam session led by Sir Louie and Joules at Maison France-Montréal on February 28, 2026. Part of the multidisciplinary ECHOS gathering, the session placed their live work in an evening shared with visual art, performance and other musicians.

His performance archive provides another way into that world. CKUT documented a full-band session around his Made to Love material in January 2024, crediting a lineup that included guitar, bass, keyboards, drums and vocals alongside Sir Louie as MC. His separate La Boulangerie Live Sessions performance, shown below, adds another direct record of his work in a live setting.

“Concrete” turns from those shared spaces toward a more private source of motivation. Sir Louie wrote the song as encouragement for his younger self, with an emphasis on staying authentic, overcoming challenges and recognizing progress in small steps. That origin makes its empowering intention specific: it begins with the person he once was, then opens the message to listeners facing their own difficult stretches.

The song leads A Few Reps, released on August 28, 2026, under PALA Sound. Sir Louie and Ricardo Manuel share the billing across five tracks: “Concrete,” “Life’s The Best Professor,” “777,” “No Time” and “Material Waste Yutes.” The EP runs a little over eight minutes, with the three-minute-and-14-second opener giving the project its longest individual statement.

Sir Louie’s work has continued to move between the studio and the stage. His recent performance history includes a Sofar Sounds show in Toronto in 2025, followed by FestiVoix in Trois-Rivières and Montreal Mural Fest at Le Belmont in 2026. Alongside the regular PALA Jam events, those appearances show the different settings in which he has continued developing his identity as a performer and storyteller.

With “Concrete,” that identity comes into focus through a straightforward purpose: offer encouragement while acknowledging that growth takes work. Listeners can hear the track on Spotify and explore the full collaboration with Ricardo Manuel on Apple Music.
