Samara Joy has released a five-track live collection recorded with her touring septet during an April run in Los Angeles.
Samara Joy’s Live at the Blue Note L.A. is her first live release, arriving October 23 after a sold-out residency at the club earlier this year. The EP puts her working band, rather than a new studio session, at the center of the recording.
The program runs just over half an hour. Its five selections begin with “Round Midnight,” move through “Yesterdays” and “Lush Life,” and close with “No More Blues” followed by a reprise of that song.
The digital edition gives “No More Blues” the most space, with a running time of 9 minutes and 58 seconds. Its 96-second reprise makes the final stretch a two-part conclusion rather than a fifth unrelated selection.
“Yesterdays” stretches to 7 minutes and 20 seconds, while “Round Midnight” runs 6 minutes and 45 seconds. “Lush Life,” at 5 minutes and 59 seconds, rounds out a program whose individual performances have room to develop beyond radio-length arrangements.
Physical editions include standard vinyl and CD, plus a U.S.-exclusive sunburst-colored pressing. The project follows Portrait, which earned Joy the Best Jazz Vocal Album Grammy and brought her career total to six awards.
The recording arrives before another European run, beginning November 8 in Sofia and reaching London’s Royal Festival Hall on November 22. Toronto and a New Year’s Eve Boston performance are also on her published 2026 schedule, keeping the live setting central to this next phase.
