The Doves guitarist introduces his own album with a new single and three Manchester support dates this November.
Jez Williams is stepping out under his own name with “Hollow Man,” the first single from his debut solo album, Life Of Me And You. The Doves guitarist and vocalist announced the project on October 20, with its release set for February 26, 2027.
The single takes on the exhausting volume of information and opinion that accompanies modern life. Williams describes the song as a response to feeling overwhelmed and less present, giving the album’s introduction a concern rooted in everyday experience.
Williams wrote, recorded and produced the record himself, developing it across several studios. As XS Noize reports, his reference points include Lou Reed, 1960s pop and Balearic music, alongside a slower approach to disco.
The official album listing places “Hollow Man” first in a ten-song sequence. “Hurt Proof,” “Walk Alone,” “Magnificent Morning” and closing track “On The Horizon” are among the other titles on the record.
Before the album arrives, Williams will introduce the material onstage while supporting Elbow at Manchester’s O2 Ritz on November 20, 21 and 22. The full-band appearances are his first solo live dates, with sets focused on the new songs.
Life Of Me And You will be released through Earth To Echo Records, with preorders available through Williams’ official store. An official visualiser for “Hollow Man” provides the first accompanying visual for this chapter of his work.
