JENNIE has released “Someone to Hold” for Netflix’s Steps, making her first contribution to an animated-film soundtrack ahead of the movie’s November 20 arrival.
JENNIE takes a different route into her next release with a song written for the world of Steps. “Someone to Hold” arrived November 6 through Netflix Music, with an animated lyric video introduced on the streamer’s Tudum platform.
The BLACKPINK member’s agency, OA Entertainment, confirmed the soundtrack appearance to Yonhap. The agency also identified it as her first song for an animated film, marking a new setting for her work outside the group.
Steps revisits Cinderella through her stepsisters, Lilith and Margot, voiced by Ali Wong and Stephanie Hsu. Amanda Seyfried plays Cinderella. Directors Alyce Tzue and John Ripa build the film around the sisters’ relationship rather than simply repeating the familiar princess story.
According to Netflix’s soundtrack preview, “Someone to Hold” accompanies that sisterly bond. JENNIE joins a musical lineup that includes Rose Gray, EMEI and Seyfried, with Kris Bowers composing the score.
The song also entered the awards conversation before its release. Yonhap reported a Hollywood Music in Media Awards nomination in the animated-film song category. That recognition is a nomination, rather than an announced win.
“Someone to Hold” is available now, while Steps premieres November 20. The two-week gap gives listeners a chance to hear JENNIE’s contribution before seeing where it sits within the film. Netflix’s Tudum page carries the animated lyric video alongside its cast and soundtrack details.
