ItsCharlie is entering a more intentional chapter of his career, using fatherhood to reshape the way he approaches songwriting without losing the melodic character that helped define his sound.
The Philadelphia artist formerly known as PnB Chizz returns with “Diana White,” a melodic new single inspired in part by a simple change at home: his children are now old enough to pay closer attention to the music he makes.
That realization pushed ItsCharlie to reconsider how he writes. Rather than relying on profanity for impact, he challenged himself to build the record around melody, personality, emotion and wordplay, creating something his children could listen to while still sounding true to his musical background.
“My kids are starting to really listen to my music now,” ItsCharlie says. “That made me think about what I’m saying and what I’m leaving behind. I don’t want to feel like I have to curse to make a record hit. I want them to hear their father’s creativity, his heart and his talent.”
The shift also gives ItsCharlie an opportunity to revisit the PnB sound he helped develop, which he describes as something deeper than simply mixing singing with rap production. For him, its identity comes from combining emotion, rhythm, vulnerability and lived experience in a way that cannot easily be copied.
“The PnB sound is a craft and a skill set we created,” he explains. “People have tried to duplicate it, but it’s hard to get right because it’s deeper than the melody. It’s the feeling, the bounce, the pain, the honesty and knowing exactly how to put it all together.”
Now working under the name ItsCharlie, the Philadelphia recording artist and songwriter is carrying that foundation into a new stage centered on growth, family and purpose. “Diana White” does not distance him from his earlier work. Instead, it shows an artist finding new ways to use the same instincts while becoming more selective about what he wants his music to represent.
