The state of North Carolina has had its fair share of stars! Music artists like Da Baby and J Cole have seen major successes on the music charts. Recently another NC born artist has been added to the list. Coogie Boi was born in Clinton, NC and raised in Dunn, NC. Early on Coogie Boi experienced a lot in his community, while still young Coogie found a passion for music.
As a child he loved playing basketball and hanging outside. It wouldn’t be long before Coogie found out he had a talent in music. Coogie started making music while only 12 years old. According to Coogie, “rappers like Tupac, 50 Cent, Lil Wayne and Eazy E all influenced me to pursue a career as a rap artist”. “I remember nights rapping in the mirror to Lil Wayne song seeing a vision of myself performing live”, Coogie explained.
Coogie Boi’s biggest motivation is his brother Richard Tyron Blue. Richard would tell Coogie to never give up, unfortunately he passed away. Richards untimely death forced Coogie to step away from music for some time but he would later return. In the beginning of this year Coogie Boi would drop his biggest song yet, “Whole Lotta”.
This record would go on to bring Coogie a “Whole Lotta” success! The record is currently at over 30k streams on Spotify, nearly 25k views on YouTube, it’s being played on radio across the country and it just earned him the 11 spot on the iTunes Hip Hop chart!
