With her second studio album Am I the Drama, Cardi B is not only making music waves, she’s making history. Amid personal headlines and industry skepticism, the Bronx rapper is earning praise from fellow artists, including West Coast veteran SKG (Helecia Choyce).
Known for her lyrical talent and behind-the-scenes business savvy, SKG has worked with some of the biggest names in the game. But it was Cardi’s new album that made her stop, listen and buy.
“This is the first album I’ve purchased in years,” SKG said. “The rollout was on point, and the music? You can literally play it straight through with no skips.”
SKG commended Cardi for pushing through adversity and proving the doubters wrong.
“She had a lot stacked against her. But she came back strong and I love that she’s re-opening the door for female rappers at all levels.”
