Following her debut single, ‘Makeup Bag’ earlier this year, ADUDA is back with an enchanting and emotional new offering entitled ‘Shortcuts’. The track features touching lyrics that will manage to tug on heartstrings and get thousands singing along. Featuring, chorus-drenched guitars and soulful vocals, the track will be sure to pick you up and leave you wanting more. The track is inspired by ADUDA’s perception on the world of music she experiences. One in which talent can often be overlooked because they don’t have the right contacts to shine.
Speaking about the single, she says: “I had the words “shortcuts” stuck in my head for weeks and knew I had to write a song about it. I came up with the chorus first, then Gary helped with the lyrics of the first verse while I was coming up with the melodies. After the first part was done, I wrote the rest based on what we already had at the time. The hardest part was the bridge at the ending, I had a few rhymes but wasn’t sure what to do, so Gary came up with the idea of a “duda rap”, so I could sing a bunch of verses in a short amount of time, and Henrique came up with the final melody of the song, so I could end it with my lyrics.”
At just 12 years old, ADUDA began to write songs as a way to combine her love for writing and singing, a trend that continued into adulthood as she started her musical career. She grew up in Brazil, and currently bases herself in São Paulo. Speaking Portuguese at home, old songs were a gateway to learning the English language. What this gives ADUDA is a strong connection between the structure of a melody and the phonetics of the words themselves, a deeper understanding of music that really comes across in her writing. Instrumentally, ADUDA learnt how to play the guitar, piano and ukulele, allowing her to expand on her unquestionable talent for infectious and evocative vocals. The artist says she never ‘got into music’, music found its way to her.
A love for words and passion for music give ADUDA the ability to bring across sincere and emotional topics in a way that allows fans to share the deep connection with the songs that she has. A proud Brazilian, ADUDA will do everything she can to reach the top and inspire those around her.
