5 Days Left: Channeling Appalachia, New Orleans, and Raw Experience Into Something Cinematic

Jesse might hail from Indiana, but his roots run a whole lot deeper than state lines. The mind behind 5 Days Left grew up straddling two wildly different musical and cultural worlds: the stories and sounds of Appalachia, and the haunted spirit of New Orleans. You can hear both in the music—sometimes in the same verse.

Asked what pulled him into music, Jesse doesn’t hesitate. “Music became the best way for me to express what I’ve lived through and turn real experiences into something meaningful.” For 5 Days Left, songs aren’t just little stories—they’re survival mechanisms, skin for old bones.

It’s a blend you don’t quite hear anywhere else. 5 Days Left pairs Appalachian folk storytelling with the spectral, gothic edge of New Orleans and throws them into the same room as indie rock guitars and modern, rumbling 808s. The result is moody and cinematic, a place where shadows dance to triplet hi-hats and banjos croon against sub-bass. Jesse calls it “a unique world of its own.” He’s not wrong.

Even a single lyric can capture that battered beauty: “I built these bones from a thousand storms,” from the song “The Hollow Between Us,” says more in nine words than some artists say in a whole record. There’s pain behind it, and fortitude too—a sense that you’re listening to someone who’s survived things worth surviving.

The project isn’t slowing down. Jesse has plans to expand 5 Days Left into a full-blown world: more music, more visuals, a deeper narrative. It won’t just be about singles and albums; it’s about building something bigger—long-term storytelling that rewards attention and time.

Right now, that means pushing the boundaries with each release. His latest single, “Bones of St. Roch,” sets the tone for what’s coming next. And there’s plenty coming. Jesse is currently working on the upcoming album, Ghost Wind Gospel, promising a new chapter (or maybe a new haunting) in the story.

The bones are built. The storms are weathered. The story’s just beginning.
