‘The Hunt’: Max Macready Share New Music Video

AUGUST 28, 2026 7:26AM

Max Macready’s ‘The Hunt’ is the kind of single that immediately suggests a story beyond the music itself. Its combination of darkwave, synthwave, post-punk and electronic sounds creates the impression of a distant broadcast picked up late at night. There is a sense of mystery throughout the track, as if the listener has stumbled across a signal that was never intended to be heard.

The duo’s musical chemistry is central to that effect. Max Macready’s synthesizers and bass establish the rhythmic and atmospheric framework, while Kurt Precinct’s guitars inject colour and character into the arrangement. The guitars do not simply sit on top of the electronics. They interact with them, helping create the feeling of a band operating somewhere between analogue machinery and human emotion.

‘The Hunt’ also benefits from its lyrical subject matter. Beneath the futuristic presentation is a song about the familiar experience of chasing something that may never be attainable. The ideas of mixed signals, starting again and recognising patterns while still repeating them give the song a relatable emotional core. The futuristic setting makes those themes feel larger without making them less personal.

The recording story adds to the appeal. The track apparently came together quickly, with the arrangement remaining mostly unchanged during the recording of guitars and vocals. The fact that the vocals were captured at approximately 3am before London’s traffic and delivery mopeds became too loud seems entirely appropriate. ‘The Hunt’ has exactly the kind of late-night atmosphere that such a setting suggests.

Max Macready have created something that is both evocative and accessible. The song can be appreciated simply for its synth-driven energy, but there are enough ideas beneath the surface to reward closer listening. ‘The Hunt’ feels like a confident step further into the duo’s imagined universe, a compelling broadcast from a lost future that manages to say something very real about life in the present.
