Long Island native OX, born Jordan Miles, is an artist whose music is deeply connected to the life he has lived. Rather than creating a manufactured persona, he writes from personal experiences involving faith, hardship, accountability, perseverance, and growth. His honest approach allows him to turn difficult moments and valuable lessons into music that listeners can understand and relate to.
OX describes his relationship with hip-hop as “love at first sound.” Growing up, he spent hours watching BET, waiting for music video premieres, discovering artists, and learning how powerful storytelling could be. Although music remained important to him, his journey also led him through athletics, military service, marriage, mentorship, church involvement, and community leadership. Each experience gave him a stronger sense of purpose and more meaningful stories to tell.
Wrestling played an important role in shaping OX’s discipline and determination. He served as captain of the Clover Hill High School wrestling team, became the 2013 VHSL Wrestling District Champion, placed fourth at the regional tournament, and qualified for the Virginia State Wrestling Championships. His story, “Wrestling Saved Me,” explains how the sport gave him structure, strengthened his mindset, and taught him to keep moving forward through adversity.
OX later joined the United States Army, where he continued developing his leadership, focus, and mental strength. During his service, he earned recognition as a U.S. Army Sharpshooter and received the Echo Company Iron Soldier Award at Fort Bliss. The discipline required in the military continues to influence the way he approaches his responsibilities, his personal development, and his work as an artist.
His return to music came during a difficult period when songwriting once again became an outlet for healing and self-reflection. OX does not hide his mistakes or present himself as perfect. Instead, he acknowledges what he has called his own “destructive nature” and uses those experiences to write about accountability, redemption, faith, and personal transformation. His family also shares a connection to hip-hop history, as his uncle once served as a bodyguard for the late DMX.
OX is now gaining attention throughout Richmond, Virginia’s independent music scene. He won three consecutive Supreme Wednesday Artist Competitions under artist consultant Jasmyn B and opened the 2026 VA Charged Up Music Festival. With his debut album, Holy Cynic, still to come, OX is introducing himself as an artist built by real experience, spiritual conviction, discipline, and a desire to create music with lasting meaning.
