Ne-Yo is facing a negligence lawsuit from a delivery worker who claims she was attacked by one of the singer’s dogs while dropping off a package at his Georgia residence. The allegations have not been proven in court, and no judgment has been issued against the Grammy-winning artist.
The plaintiff, Dominique Bridgett, says the incident occurred around July 12, 2025, while she was lawfully making a delivery at Ne-Yo’s Alpharetta-area home. The complaint alleges that an unrestrained dog approached without warning and bit her leg, leaving her with bodily injuries, pain, shock and emotional distress. Bridgett says her medical treatment has already cost $9,039.50, according to Billboard.
Bridgett’s attorneys reportedly describe the animal as “vicious and dangerous” and claim it had previously displayed aggressive behavior toward people. The lawsuit argues that Ne-Yo, whose legal name is Shaffer Chimere Smith, knew or should have known about the dog’s alleged tendencies but failed to keep it properly restrained.
The delivery worker is seeking repayment of her medical expenses and additional damages for pain, suffering and injuries she claims may be permanent. The filing does not specify the complete amount she is requesting from the singer.
For Bridgett’s negligence claim to succeed, her legal team will likely need to demonstrate that Ne-Yo had reason to know the dog presented a danger and failed to take reasonable steps to prevent the alleged attack. Ne-Yo had not publicly responded to the allegations when the lawsuit was reported.
The case remains in its early stages, meaning the claims represent only Bridgett’s account of what happened. Further court filings and any response from Ne-Yo’s legal team will provide a clearer picture of how the singer intends to address the lawsuit.
