Blue Capricorn, the project of Dallas-based artist Rodrigo Caraballo-Marin, has always been interested in the spaces between feelings. His music, cinematic yet intimate, is built around lush textures and emotional atmosphere. It evokes longing, nostalgia, and self-discovery, carrying a melancholic yet hopeful tone that is grounded in vulnerability. With “honest,” he turns his attention to the uncertainty and attachment that remain after love has failed.
For the track, he enlisted the talents of LOREN KOLE, a Cuban-American indie-pop artist and producer whose dark and dreamy sound creates an immersive world of her own. The collaboration was a natural fit. “When I met LOREN a few years ago, I knew I wanted to work with her one way or another,” Caraballo-Marin says. “It was one of my biggest privileges to explore that with LOREN.” Their shared reflection gives the song its emotional core.
The song’s evolution was part of its power. Written over a year and a half during a period of personal and creative transition, “honest” changed significantly from its earliest form. “Throughout a year and a half, it felt like this song had lived a life because it had evolved into something so pure and precious to us,” Caraballo-Marin explains. “The more we spent time on it, the more I realized that ‘honest’ really is nothing more than a song about vulnerability and accepting failed love.”
“honest” is the third track from “when you come back, transcend me,” Blue Capricorn’s second EP, due October 15, 2026. The seven-track project continues his exploration of vulnerability, longing, nostalgia, and self-discovery. It is a body of work that promises to be as emotionally rich and sonically adventurous as this single. For anyone who has ever sat with the uncertainty of a love that could not last, Blue Capricorn and LOREN KOLE have created a beautiful and honest companion.
