LOVE IT OR LOSE IT
Seattle born, Los Angeles based singer songwriter Erika Weber releases her new album Love It Or Lose It, a record drawn from the past two and a half years of her life. Its title is also its boundary: love her for who she is, or leave her alone.
Love It Or Lose It follows Weber through the romantic highs and lows, friendships, questions of self worth and periods of uncertainty that have shaped her mid twenties. Rather than trying to separate those experiences into a single narrative, Weber approaches the songs like diary entries, each tied to a particular point in her life.
At the heart of the album is the idea of accepting yourself without requiring that acceptance from everybody else. Hope and self doubt exist alongside each other throughout the record, while friendship provides much of its grounding. For Weber, the people who remind her that she is already enough have become as important to the story as romantic relationships.
“This is an album of pure self expression and the navigation of the uncertainty, hope, and self doubt of your mid-twenties, along with the friendships that keep you grounded, and remind you that who you are is more than enough,” says Weber.
The album also represents a change in how Weber makes music. After previously self producing her projects, Love It Or Lose It is the first record where she has worked with a producer to develop a more polished sound, collaborating with Joshua Valel Thomas on the music and production.
Focus track Dance With Me is perhaps the clearest example of where that collaboration has taken her sound. Weber describes the track as an acoustic foundation paired with pop percussion. It can work simply as an easy listen, but there is more in the writing for anyone who wants to look closer. That balance between catchiness and deeper meaning runs throughout the album.
The visual side of Love It Or Lose It follows a similar idea. The artwork reflects the different moods within the songs and the different versions of ourselves that can be presented publicly, even when what is happening privately tells another story. Weber describes the visual approach as unencumbered, nonchalant and playful.

About Erika Weber
Originally from Seattle, Washington and now based in Los Angeles, California, Erika Weber is a solo singer songwriter working across acoustic, pop, indie pop and singer songwriter music. Acoustic instrumentation, expressive pop percussion and lyric focused storytelling have remained central to her work, with songs frequently returning to love, friendship and the process of understanding yourself.
Weber names Stevie Nicks, Carole King and Amy Winehouse as her “big three,” particularly for the individual paths they created while remaining committed to personal songwriting. Sheryl Crow, Taylor Swift and Kelly Clarkson are also among the artists she has cited as influences.
Having written music for more than two decades, Weber released a number of self produced projects before Love It Or Lose It. Working with Joshua Valel Thomas marks a new chapter in that process and one she plans to continue. Their next music will be created together from scratch, beginning with Weber’s lyrics, melodies and chord arrangements.
