Ella Langley has turned “Choosin’ Texas” into one of the biggest country crossover records in recent memory. The Alabama singer’s breakout hit has now spent an extraordinary 17 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, extending a chart run that has carried Langley from rising country favorite to one of the defining music stars of 2026.

The latest achievement places “Choosin’ Texas” among the four longest-running No. 1 songs in Hot 100 history. It also pushes Langley beyond the 16-week reign of Morgan Wallen’s “Last Night,” giving her another major benchmark in a year already filled with chart records. According to Billboard, the song secured its 17th week at the summit on the chart announced August 10.

What makes the success even more impressive is how firmly the record remains rooted in traditional country storytelling. Langley co-wrote “Choosin’ Texas” with Miranda Lambert, Luke Dick and Joybeth Taylor, crafting a story about realizing that the person you love has ultimately chosen someone, and somewhere, else. References to Tennessee, Texas and classic country music give the song a familiar Southern character while its instantly memorable melody has helped it reach listeners far outside the genre.

The song’s visual world further expanded its story. Its cinematic official video features Luke Grimes, Ava Phillippe, Miranda Lambert and Kaitlin Butts, turning the heartbreak at the center of the record into a fully developed Texas narrative. The video gave the already successful song another boost after its April release and demonstrated Langley’s ability to build an identity around her music rather than relying on the song alone.

“Choosin’ Texas” also serves as a centerpiece of Langley’s sophomore album, Dandelion, released earlier this year. The project has helped establish her beyond a single viral moment, while the continued success of “Choosin’ Texas” shows how effectively her traditional country influences, direct songwriting and modern approach can coexist. What began as a fast-rising country hit has developed into a genuine mainstream phenomenon.

With 17 weeks at No. 1 and counting, Ella Langley is no longer simply one of country music’s promising new names. “Choosin’ Texas” has given her a record that now sits alongside some of the biggest hits in Billboard history, while also showing that emotionally straightforward country storytelling can still command the center of mainstream music.
