DETROIT — Rising hip-hop artist and producer Dru Boogie is carving out a lane for himself in the Midwest scene with music that blends subtle storytelling, perspective, and originality. With a growing fan base and experience opening for major acts like Big Sean, Dru Boogie says it’s time to step from the role of opener to the spotlight as a main act.
“People should read about me because I have a uniqueness about myself,” Dru Boogie said. “I believe I have a talent that comes once in a generation. The highs and lows I’ve had in my life help me create perspective-driven music. I’m a thinker, and it shows in my art.”
From Big Sean to Building His Own Stage
Boogie’s career highlights include opening for Big Sean as well as a variety of popular regional and local artists across the Midwest. But his focus has shifted toward establishing himself as more than a supporting act.
“My biggest challenge was realizing I’m not for everybody,” Boogie explained. “I used to try to make myself likable to people who didn’t care about me. Now, I focus on staying loyal to myself, my creativity, and the people closest to me.”

In the coming years, Dru Boogie sees himself becoming a household name — whether in the underground or mainstream — by staying true to his creativity and vision.
“My aspiration is simple,” he said. “Stay true to myself, creatively and business-wise, and continue building something real.”
