Following on from a busy 2024, which saw Temgazi release a string of colourful singles, she returns with new music unveiling her latest single, ‘Jealous’. A marvel for R&B, the new track looks to cement her as an exciting young talent.
A spacious, guitar-driven intro breathes an emotional foundation for the single. Ethereal vocals come backed with ethereal harmonies as Temgazi delivers her heartfelt lyricism, brimming with self-reflection and storytelling. Blending the effortless finesse of R&B with the sticky refrains of pop music, the single stands its ground as a poignant ballad, showcasing creative maturity and sonic beauty.
Speaking about the single, Temgazi explains, “Behind the façade of appearing unphased by the new love of an ex you miss, are feelings of jealousy and wishing it was you instead. I wanted this song to be a vulnerable confession of an emotion many of us feel but never admit out loud.”
Hailing from Sydney, though born with Swazi-South African heritage, Temgazi is a singer-songwriter with a deep passion for music-making. Born into a musical family, she spent her early years watching her father and grandfather in their singing groups before making the leap to form her own group, Adira Belle. Auditioning on X Factor, the outfit received a standing ovation from the excitable crowd and went on to make it to the show’s final twelve.
After the group disbanded, Temgazi indulged in a solo career, catching the attention of New York-based label Tommy Boy Records. Making bold moves, she has supported a series of legendary artists, ranging from Sampa The Great and Ms Lauren Hill whilst receiving backing from the likes of Tone Deaf and Rolling Stone Australia.
