MAZ Unveils Emotive New Single ‘The Arsonist’

Returning to music with her first release since 2024’s ‘familiar’, MAZ is back with her emphatic new single ‘The Arsonist’. With a string of singles under her belt, the Irish-born artist looks set to cement herself as an exciting young talent.

Bringing emotive piano ballads back to the limelight, ‘The Arsonist’ sees MAZ take 2025 by the reigns as she shows a diverse side to her artistry. Slowly growing its roots through its sub-four-minute runtime, the single navigates a whole host of sonic flavours before kicking its way forward with roaring guitars and pounding percussions. Leaning into the network of emotions surrounding relationships, ‘The Arsonist’ extends to all corners of musical understanding with its ethereal ivories, deep bass grooves and intrinsically driven backbeats.

“In my new song The Arsonist, I delve into the complex emotions surrounding the end of a friendship. The lyrics capture the turmoil I felt, using imagery of a burning house to reflect how the damage isn’t just in the flames but in the ashes left behind, and the confusion of trying to make sense of it all. This song explores themes of trust, healing, and the importance of surrounding yourself with those who offer unconditional love and support.

In many ways, The Arsonist is my way of saying thank you—for surviving, for gaining clarity, and for finding the strength to rebuild. And perhaps, the fire had to burn for the truth to finally come to light.”

Born in Ireland and raised in America, MAZ is a singer-songwriter whose music defies genre as it forges together pop, folk and indie to carve ethereal melodies within heartfelt poetries. Evolving her sound with each release, she has been known to forge an emotional connection within her songwriting, making her stand out as a defiant creative force. Since debuting in 2021, MAZ has turned the heads of listeners as she stands with a string of euphoric singles to her name. Returning for 2025, she unveils her latest single ‘The Arsonist’
