Jihyo has established EMITHAUS for her solo career after leaving JYP Entertainment, while confirming that she will continue her activities with TWICE.
Jihyo announced the launch of EMITHAUS in a handwritten Instagram letter on October 21, marking the end of her 21-year relationship with JYP Entertainment. As Billboard Philippines reports, the move concerns her individual career and does not mean she is leaving TWICE.
In the statement, she reflected on growing up with JYP and expressed gratitude for the years she spent there, while looking toward new possibilities. The company’s name draws on the English word “emit,” linking the announcement to her stated ambition to explore creative potential she has not yet fully expressed.
Her two timelines are worth separating: TWICE’s debut came on October 20, 2015, with The Story Begins, whereas her relationship with JYP included the trainee years before it. The label’s original album materials document the nine-member group’s emergence from Sixteen, making the company connection much longer than the group’s recording career alone.
Jihyo’s solo discography already included ZONE, released August 18, 2023, and its lead single “Killin’ Me Good.” The album’s credits list her as a songwriter or composer on six of its seven tracks, placing her writing alongside her vocal performances across much of the record.
The project paired her with 24kGoldn on “Talkin’ About It” and Heize on “Don’t Wanna Go Back,” as its official tracklist confirms. In a 2023 Recording Academy interview, she explained that the guest parts were selected during production to add different vocals or rap, rather than being fixed at the start.
The confirmed arrangement preserves both her solo work and her TWICE activities, with the new agency handling the former. For listeners, the useful distinction is between where individual projects are managed and whether a performer remains part of a group, two questions this announcement answers differently.
