Some artists step into music like it’s a phase. Others are born into it without even realizing it right away. For Birmingham Alabama born artist Kid Skooba, music was never a choice. It was a language he learned before he even knew he was learning it.
Growing up, the church drum set was his first playground. It was there that rhythm became instinct. Surrounded by friends who played guitar and bass he picked up those skills the same way most kids learn how to ride a bike by being around it long enough until it becomes second nature. Eventually he started making beats on his phone just for fun until a friend introduced him to FL Studio and that changed everything.
At first Kid Skooba tried to get people to rap on his beats but no one made the time. So he did what most innovators end up doing. He bet on himself. He hopped on his own production and gave his own beats a voice. Then when nobody could record him he taught himself how to engineer. One challenge at a time he turned obstacles into skill sets. Before he knew it he was no longer just a beat maker or just a rapper. He was his own ecosystem.

Trying to box Kid Skooba into one genre is almost impossible. Sure his foundation sits somewhere in the new age underground lane but his versatility is what makes him unpredictable. One moment he is turning up with aggressive bouncy flows. The next he is floating over laid back textures. Then out of nowhere he will tap into boom bap. He even has a rock record out there hidden in plain sight.

But instead of copying the blueprint he studied the energy and learned how to fuse it with his own perspective.
The Journey So Far
Kid Skooba’s career has been one long experiment of trial error and elevation. He has worked with a ton of artists and producers over time and he thrives in those late night studio cookups where ideas bounce around the room like sparks. Collaboration is where he feels the magic happens and those connections have helped him build real bonds not just industry handshakes.
Performing live has also shaped his identity. Shows are where he gets to feel his music reflected back at him. Every song he makes marks a moment in time a chapter in his life. He describes his catalog as an auditory photo dump of experiences. Each project sounds different because each one reflects a different era of who he was at the moment.
Right now he is stepping out of an Outerspace era and moving from a Video Game inspired rage world into something darker and more trap oriented. The next evolution is on the way and he wants listeners to experience the transformation with him in real time.

He once dropped an EP but took it down. Somewhere on the internet a piece of early Kid Skooba history still exists. For now he is focused on singles and preparing for his first official project. Years of unreleased material are stacked in the vault waiting to see daylight and a brand new EP is expected to drop Spring or Summer 2026.
A Career Built on Moments Not Metrics
Ask Kid Skooba what his biggest career moment is and he will not name a number a cosign or a viral spike. He will tell you it is everything.
