Trevy James returns this fall with his sophomore solo album, Grey In The Beard. A 9-track LP rooted in lovers rock, vintage R&B, and roots reggae, delivered with a harmonic and lyrical sophistication that positions him as one of the most distinctive new voices emerging from the American reggae landscape. Over the past year, his singles have been championed by outlets including CLASH and Earmilk, and now the full depth of this body of work arrives ready to speak directly to both reggae and R&B audiences.
As a second-generation reggae musician who was truly raised inside the genre, Trevy’s career has been defined by steadily growing into his own expression of the music that shaped him. Grey In The Beard is the culmination of an eight-year evolution, the defining moment where lived growth, craft, and lineage finally converge into a sound that is wholly his.
The album is a patient, elegant statement, and a true reflection of Trevy’s personal maturation alongside his real-life love story that recently culminated in marriage. The album arrives following an impressive run of singles through 2024 and 2025: ‘Perfect Sense’, ‘If I Get a Chance ’, ‘(Let Me Tell You ‘Bout) What I See ’, and ‘Never Give In.’ Each single showcased a different facet of Trevy’s evolving sonic identity, and they only become stronger as they finally find their rightful place within the full body of work. Adding, “This album is my most complete artistic statement to date. It took time to consolidate all of my different musical roles, influences, and visions into the style I was meant to create. My 2018 EP and 2020 LP were about taking the reins of my own life within music and never giving up on my dreams.”

Trevy James is a songwriter, vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist from San Diego, CA, whose sound fuses lovers’ rock, roots reggae, and vintage R&B. A graduate of Berklee College of Music and a long-standing fixture within Southern California’s reggae and soul communities, he has performed extensively as both a solo artist and as a member of the bands Psydecar and Heaping Teaspoon. His music centres around themes of love, resilience, emotional clarity, and mature romance, offering a refined and soulful voice within the global reggae conversation.
