It’s not every day you hear of an artist who’s been signed before dropping their first official single. But then again, El Barbaro isn’t your everyday artist.
Born Abraham Lechtman in Costa Rica and raised in Miami, El Barbaro has been orbiting the music world for years—without ever fully stepping into it. Until now.
“I’m finally taking the spotlight,” he says. “A new pop star has arrived.”
That confidence isn’t arrogance. It’s hunger. It’s the kind that builds up over five years of being shelved by former management, stalled by pandemic delays, and trapped in drawn-out negotiations. But now at 20, with his debut singles finally out in the world, El Barbaro is making up for lost time—with energy, ambition, and authenticity that’s impossible to ignore.
Music as a Movie, Mindset as a Mission
El Barbaro’s love for music was born not just from melody—but from imagination. He doesn’t just hear songs; he sees them.
“I love that I can bring anything I imagine to life, audibly and visually. Music videos let me create the same impact as a movie, just in three to four minutes. And I get to write, act, and direct it all.”
While his music started rooted in Latin influences, El Barbaro has evolved into a pop and rap powerhouse—one who blends catchy hooks, storytelling lyrics, and that addictive, brain-scratching kind of sound that sticks with you. His tracks are polished but personal, commercial yet still deeply creative.
“My music is catchy, addictive, and surround-sound immersive. I focus heavily on punchlines and tone shifts—it’s all about taking the listener on a ride.”
A Mind for Business, A Heart for the Craft
Despite his creative soul, El Barbaro has a strong business streak. He’s independent by choice, running his brand with the help of a tight-knit team while keeping an eye out for the right label deal—if and when the terms make sense.
“I’m flexible, creative, and obsessed with winning. But I won’t give up my vision or values just for a contract. Everything has to feel right—and be fair.”
This mindset has helped him stay grounded in an industry full of distractions. Rather than comparing himself to others, El Barbaro keeps his eyes on his own path.
“What’s meant for me is mine. No one can take that away.”
That attitude? It comes from sports. As a lifelong soccer player, he developed a competitive edge that now fuels his music journey.
“This isn’t a hobby. This is my career. I’m coming for legendary status—and I’m ready to work obsessively until I get there.”
The Comeback Kid with a Star’s Vision
After years of rehearsing, reflecting, and preparing behind the scenes, El Barbaro is finally hitting the ground running. His new singles mark the beginning of what he sees as a long—and legacy-building—journey.
And while he’s just starting to grace stages again, he’s no stranger to performance. Early in his career, he racked up live shows in the Latin music circuit. Now, he’s itching to return with a whole new sound and identity.
“I’ve got experience. I’ve got the reps in. I’m just ready to light it up again.”
When asked about dream collabs, he doesn’t hesitate: Billie Eilish.
“I love her voice, her presence, her style. She’s feminine but brings this masculine energy too. I think we’d have a great dynamic.”
What’s Next for El Barbaro?
Music is the focus—but it’s far from the only lane. While he’s tight-lipped on details, El Barbaro hints at several business projects on the horizon—especially in fashion and entertainment.
“I’m creative at heart. Anything that lets me build something original, I’m in.”
