There may not be many more multifaceted artists out there than Jae.Joven (pronounced jay-ho-ven). He’s got potent bars, a captivating story, attention to detail and boundless potential, all of which are essential for an artist to even have a chance to make it big.
Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest — specifically the Portland, Oregon area — nature plays just as much of a role as the city for Jae.Joven’s life and music.
“If I’m being real, my favorite part of the city isn’t even the city itself…it’s the proximity to the Columbia River Gorge, which is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen,” Jae said. “It’s home to many hikes and beautiful landscapes in the Pacific Northwest but don’t get me wrong, I have major love for the city.”
For his most recent single, the David Arcade-produced “STUNTMAN,” Jae.Joven reached deep into his bag and took inspiration from a book — “Parts Work” by Thomas Holmes — as well as recent therapy he has gone through.
“‘STUNTMAN’ is a song I wrote about two different versions of myself that often compete with each other,” he said. “It’s honestly a really unhealthy relationship between the two, and this track is just me trying to explore those dynamics and paint that picture to the best of my ability.”
What’s on the radar for Jae.Joven? He’s got more songs — at least three of them — before the summer ends. What’s more, his second EP is expected to drop soon, meaning that the grind he is on will not stop soon.
