Brooklyn-Born Artist Mick Myers Blends Music and Aesthetic to Stand Out in a Crowded Industry

WASHINGTON STATE — Recording artist Chaz Francis, known professionally as Mick Myers, is stepping into his moment. Originally from Brooklyn, New York and now based in Washington state, Myers is carving out a lane that blends sound, visual identity and persona — something he says the modern music landscape is missing.

“Something that makes me stand out in the industry is that no one else is doing it like me,” Myers said. “Artists these days don’t have an image or alter ego, so it’s not as attention demanding like how music used to be.”

Myers points to artists like Marilyn Manson, Playboi Carti and Yeat as examples of how strong aesthetics and distinctive identities keep artists relevant. His own presentation — one that leans into dark, occult-inspired imagery — is designed to demand attention.

“I’m sure you’d stop scrolling if you heard some good music and saw someone dressed like an occultist on your feed,” he said.

A Lifelong Passion for Music

Myers’ interest in music dates back to childhood. Growing up, he spent hours watching music videos on television, drawing inspiration from major artists including Bruno Mars, Usher and Justin Timberlake.

“I have a deep passion for music. It’s my life,” he said.

His dedication has led to collaborations with established figures in the underground music scene. Myers has two features from one of his favorite underground artists, with one slated for his upcoming EP, fully produced by KAREGI — a producer who has worked with several notable artists. Another collaboration will appear on his second album, Origin.

Overcoming Doubt and Staying Focused

The path hasn’t been easy. Myers has faced online negativity, scammers, and a lack of support from people close to him. Rather than letting criticism stop him, he leaned into resilience.

“People tried to tear me down… telling me to quit,” he said. “The best thing I did was ignore it.”

He also cited advice from Tyler, The Creator: “You can’t get cyberbullied — just turn it off.”

Instead of engaging with negativity, Myers says he focuses on audiences who are open-minded and searching for something different.

A Bigger Vision Ahead

Looking forward, Myers envisions headlining tours, selling out shows and collaborating with more of his favorite artists. He also plans to launch his own record label.

“I want more people to witness me, my success, my vision — and eventually be a part of it,” he said. “Something big is coming. I’ve waited long enough, and now it’s my time.”
