The release of ‘YOUNG GUN’ earlier this year turned many a head to the infectious soundcape of Cris Cap. Now returning for summer 2025, he is back with his latest single ‘Little Yellow Car’. A bright, pop-RnB anthem, the single draws on that lucious, care-free optimism that Cap’s back catalogue has oozed to date.
Featuring smooth Rhodes licks and summery, slick melodies, ‘Little Yellow Car’ offers nothing but finesse and groove. His third release of the year, Cris Cap’s seamless blend of pop, blues, soul and R&B highlights his musical sophistication as we head into the summer. The track sees Cap step up to the mic for the first time, shifting away from working with fellow contemporaries, with his daughter providing warm backing vocals to give the single a magnetic edge.
Commenting on the thought process behind his decision to step up to the microphone, he comments, “For a long time, I worked with amazing singers. But at some point, I realised these songs are so personal, they’re my thoughts, moods, and stories. I want to be the one to tell them. Even if it’s not perfect, I believe my voice carries the emotion more honestly than any flawless technique could. It’s not about perfection, it’s about authenticity. Having my daughter on backing vocals made this project truly special—her voice brings the story full circle.”
Cris Cap is an intrinsic singer-songwriter who hails from Germany. Inspired by pop, soul and classical music, he started his musical journey at age seven as part of a choir in his small town. Growing up, he fell in love with 70s rock groups, the likes of Steely Dan and Toto. A purchase of a Fender Rhodes Mk1 in 1985 set his creative spirit alight, inspiring him to hone his musical and technical skills before building a career as a TV director.
Drawing on deeply personal themes within his lyricism, Cap’s writing often comes with tales of love, self-discovery and the beauty of youth. Gearing up to release his debut album in 2026, Cris looks to keep pushing the boundaries of contemporary music making whilst never forgetting to tip his hat to the past, for a hint of nostalgia.
