From the heart of Perú, S O U L emerges as a powerful voice for change. A talented singer and composer, he combines his love for tropical music with a deep commitment to helping his community. As an openly gay artist and activist, S O U L is on a mission to inspire, uplift, and bring people together through his art.
Q: Tell us about your musical journey. How did it all begin?
S O U L: It started with my love for music legends like Chester Bennington and Freddie Mercury. They showed me how music can touch souls and change lives. I’ve always been drawn to art as a way of making life better—not just for me, but for others too.
Q: Your music often reflects personal emotions. What inspires your songwriting?
S O U L: All my songs are deeply personal. They come from a place of love—usually failed love. Writing is my therapy, and it happens quickly. I pour my heart into every lyric, every melody.
Q: Tropical music is at the core of your sound. Why this genre?
S O U L: Tropical music is full of life! Salsa, bachata, cumbia—they’re vibrant, emotional, and connect people. These genres give me the freedom to express joy and pain all at once.
Q: You’re also an activist. How does that influence your work?
S O U L: Being gay in a conservative society isn’t easy, but it’s given me a strong voice. I want to represent my community and show that we can rise above challenges. Music is my way of advocating for love, equality, and self-expression.
Q: What challenges have you faced in the music industry as a gay artist?
S O U L: The industry can be dark and unforgiving. I’ve been scammed, and prejudice still exists. But I focus on my mission: making art that matters and helping my community feel seen and heard.
Q: How do you see your role as an activist?
S O U L: Activism, for me, is about creating safe spaces through my music and message. I want to inspire LGBTQ+ individuals to embrace who they are and dream big. My goal is to make a real difference, starting in my own community.
Q: What’s been a highlight of your career so far?
S O U L: Hearing people say my music touches them is everything to me. It reminds me why I do this.
Q: What’s next for S O U L?
S O U L: I dream of blending activism and music on a larger scale. I want to use my platform to help others, especially LGBTQ+ youth, find their voice.
Q: What message do you want to leave with your audience?
S O U L: Life is like a song—you can always rewrite it. Through my music, I hope people find strength, joy, and a reminder that they’re not alone.
