Zaeskee Alazae: From Behind the Scenes to Center Stage

Before stepping fully into his own spotlight, Zaeskee Alazae spent years shaping music from the inside. Raised on Chicago’s West Side in a gospel driven household, he learned piano by ear at a young age, surrounded by family members who performed and lived through music. Influences like Sam Cooke, James Brown, and The Staple Singers helped shape his ear early, grounding him in melody, rhythm, and emotional delivery.

His path into the industry began with hands on work. In 1999, he played a key role in writing and producing the Karachi Compilation Album under Private I Records as part of the group P.M.P., handling the majority of the project’s creative direction. But one of his most defining moments came in the early 2000s, when he discovered Lupe Fiasco and connected him with Shorty Capone. That introduction helped set the stage for Lupe’s rise and the formation of 1st & 15th Entertainment, marking Zaeskee as someone with a sharp instinct for talent and direction.

Over the years, his work expanded across collaborations with acts like Do or Die and Crucial Conflict, along with contributions to television and documentary projects. In 2019, he launched his own label and production company, Beat Accountants, creating a space where he could fully control his creative output and support other artists. His debut album Belly Gang in 2022 marked a shift toward establishing his voice not just as a producer, but as a recording artist.

At the center of his sound is what he calls Comic Soul, a blend of Alternative R&B, hip hop, and Afro pop rooted in melody and layered production. It carries the influence of his gospel upbringing while pushing into darker, more rhythmic territory. The sound feels intentional, built from years of moving between genres and refining how emotion translates into music.

His latest single, “Snatch Ya Soul”, continues that direction. Featuring Sisi Dior, Ayoo KD, and Never of Crucial Conflict, the track combines hypnotic rhythms with melodic hooks, showing how his style has evolved while staying grounded in his roots. It also sets the tone for his upcoming project Belly Gang 2, signaling a new phase where he is no longer working behind the scenes, but leading the narrative himself.

Looking ahead, Zaeskee is focused on expanding the reach of his music while continuing to build his platform. After years of developing artists, producing records, and shaping sound from the background, he is now stepping forward with intention. Zaeskee Alazae is not starting over. He is stepping into a space he has been building for years.
