Hip-hop is all about energy, authenticity, and the grind. YC RichRock is bringing all that and more to the table. Coming straight from the streets with a story to tell, he’s got the talent, the hustle, and the confidence to take over. We sat down with him to talk about his journey, his music, and what keeps him locked in.
Every rapper has that moment when they do something crazy just to get their music heard. For YC RichRock, that moment happened at SinCity when he ran up to the DJ, determined to get his song played.
“I was bussin so hard, I ran up to the DJ and told him to play my song. He was like, ‘It gotta be hot for me to spin it.’ So I told him I’d throw him $100 just to listen. Once he heard it, he said he would’ve played it for free ‘cause it was fire. I started throwing ones in the air so everybody in the club knew they was turning up to MY song. Had the whole spot lit!”
That’s real dedication.
YC RichRock puts real emotion into his music. He’s got plenty of tracks where he gets deep, but two stand out to him the most.
“‘Pour Up’ is real personal for me. I was giving it everything on that one. But right now, ‘Alarms’ is the one—‘cause everybody been sleeping on me, and I’m finna wake ‘em up.”
That hunger is what sets him apart.
The rap game is competitive, but YC RichRock isn’t worried about anybody else.
“The only thing that keeps me focused is believing in myself and knowing I’m in a different lane for real. I was never the type to follow the pack. My charisma, my energy—it’s different. My vibe too big for just one city, I was born to go global.”
YC RichRock moves by a certain set of rules, both in the streets and the industry.
“Law is law, code is code—that don’t change. No violence on kids or elders, can’t hold no keys to backdoors of your kin, and no cheese.”
In other words, loyalty is everything.
Every artist has a moment when they feel like it’s all over. YC RichRock was no different.
“Man, I ain’t even gon’ cap, everybody gotta hit rock bottom before they reach the top. I was just there. But when the streets put me on a pedestal and told me to keep going, stay out of jail, and focus on the music, I realized I’m the ticket. I had to tap back in, cut out distractions. Too many people—dead and alive—counting on me. Ain’t no way I’m giving up. Insha’Allah, I’ma make it.”
