The world finally has Gang Related in its hands and it’s proving to be a landmark release in independent hip hop.
Dropped on August 25, the debut album from Weirdo Gang is doing more than just turning heads. It’s flipping the entire narrative of what an indie rap group can be: artistic, emotional, collaborative, and deeply connected to the culture.
Built on Chemistry, Not Clout
Composed of Fliparachee, Ayara Senoj, and Tk The Grate, the group didn’t form in a label meeting or boardroom they found their synergy performing across states, recording at Jupe Productions, and receiving one simple, powerful message from an A&R:
“Individually you guys are amazing but together, you’d be unstoppable.”
Since then, they’ve lived up to that prophecy.
From the layered lyricism on “It’s Me Again” to the raw passion on “Smile”, Gang Related isn’t chasing hits. It’s telling truths. It’s a story told from three angles: heart, mind, and soul.
“We don’t chase clout we chase connection,” Ayara says. “That’s why the music lasts longer.”
“The instrumentals guide the emotion, and then we shape that into lyrics,” adds Tk. “It’s always real. Never forced.”
