With influences that range from the likes of Lil Wayne and J. Cole to Tyler, the Creator and Gunna, Nigeria-born Baby Gap is a rapper with a knack for making a sound suitable for just about anyone. Case in point is his recent project “Walk In and Slide!” which, over eight tracks, showcases just how diverse he can get.
Coming off a period of low creativity, Baby Gap began producing more, and it paid off big time; six of the eight songs on “Walk In and Slide!” are produced by the man himself. Not only that, but he engineered all of the album’s tracks, further proving his musical prowess.
That said, the project would not be what it is without a few other skillful collaborators. Baby Gap specifically mentioned that Mongo, 448millionaire and Desmond McGhee all lent their production talents, with Arundel Kramer and Ean Polakov applying the finishing touches on the engineering front.
All in all, it’s safe to say Baby Gap accomplished his mission with “Walk In and Slide!” as its two main singles, aptly titled “Walk In” and “Slide,” have amassed more than 100,000 views on TikTok and are associated with the #slidechallenge, which was created by Baby Gap himself, his manager and his manager’s brother.
And if you thought he was stopping, Baby Gap has nothing planned but to keep his foot on the gas.
“My next moves [are to shoot] music videos for a good amount of tracks on the project,” he said. “I really like this one so I want to heavily promote it and perform these songs at different shows across the country…I will also release singles that didn’t make it on the project.”
The future is bright for this up and coming MC!
