Toronto-based R&B singer and songwriter Sol’ana is stepping into the spotlight with her highly anticipated debut single, “I’m Good.” Drawing inspiration from the emotional depth of Celine Dion and Whitney Houston, Sol’ana’s music is a heartfelt exploration of love, self-worth, and empowerment.
“I’m Good” is a soulful, lo-fi R&B anthem born from personal experience. Inspired by a challenging relationship that turned into a situationship, the track transforms heartbreak into empowerment.
“‘The song is based on a real story, a real situation, and real emotion,” Sol’ana says. “I was down bad for a relationship that turned my world upside down” when I wrote it. I poured my heart into it, and with this song, my goal is to empower people in relationships that often feel like love but don’t necessarily give that or pour into you the proper way. Love Is not control and if it is, be good off that.”
With lyrics like, “Second to none, know that I’M first and more,” Sol’ana channels confidence and self-respect, offering a soundtrack for anyone navigating love with boundaries. She describes the song as the ultimate “middle finger moment,” encouraging listeners to gracefully exit relationships that don’t serve them.
As a mom of two, Sol’ana balances parenthood with her artistic pursuits, often involving her children in her journey while carving out space for her music. “I want to push my kids to believe that you can follow your dreams while being transparent about the process. I enjoy teaching them that everything takes hard work, dedication and for you to truly love what you do,” she says.
“It’s important to show my kids that you can follow your dreams,” she says. “They’re part of my story, and their support means everything.” Her musical journey began at age six with piano and vocal lessons, and by nine, she had already won her first competition performing “Part of Your World” from The Little Mermaid.
Produced by Grammy-winner Kevin Ekofo (Wizkid, John Legend, Tink), the single blends Sol’ana’s opera-trained vocals with smooth, intimate production. “Our synergy brings this song to life in a way that’s raw and honest,” Sol’ana says.
Sol’ana’s vision extends beyond music. She wants to build a community where listeners feel safe to process emotions and embrace authenticity.
“I’m Good” is out now on all major streaming platforms, accompanied by an acoustic version and intimate visuals. Follow Sol’ana on Instagram @itssolanaa to join her journey as she redefines modern R&B with soul, strength, and confidence.
