NEW YORK (Bronx) — Stella Afari, a Bronx-raised musician and artist with Ghanaian and Liberian roots, is preparing to reintroduce herself to listeners with a deeply personal and mature new sound. Known for her authenticity, emotional honesty and distinctive high-pitched voice, Afari blends pop and R&B influences to tell stories rooted in love, heartbreak, grace and self-discovery.
Born in Ghana and shaped by a multicultural upbringing, Afari grew up in the Bronx surrounded by music. Coming from a family of singers and instrumentalists, she began writing and singing as early as elementary school, developing a natural connection to storytelling through sound.
“People should read about me because I’m heartfelt, down to earth and authentic,” Afari said. “My background, upbringing and desire to empower others allow me to create music that’s beautiful, sad, loving and honest.”
What sets Afari apart in today’s music landscape is not a chase for visibility, but a desire to be genuinely heard. She emphasizes message and impact over popularity, bringing vulnerability and intention into every release. Her artistry is defined not only by her voice and style, but by her kindness, spontaneity and commitment to growth — both personally and creatively.
Throughout her journey, Afari cites formative childhood experiences, her transition from acoustic guitar playing to focused songwriting and vocal work, and collaborations with other talented creatives as key milestones. Since releasing her debut single in 2017, her biggest challenges have been maintaining consistency through private life obstacles and overcoming shyness in order to share her stories wholeheartedly.
“I’ve learned not to hoard my music,” she explained. “There’s an endless list of songs that can still be created, and what needs to be heard will be heard.”
This spring, Afari will release her first official project, a five-track EP titled About Time. Scheduled for early spring 2026, the project features no guest appearances and serves as a refined introduction to her current sound — described as more mature, sexier, sweeter and emotionally expansive. The EP blends pop and R&B influences and reflects a new era of confidence and clarity.
Looking ahead, Afari envisions a future rooted in balance and intention. She hopes to remain content, resilient and family-oriented while continuing to create without limits. Her goals include reaching global audiences, collaborating with brands and creators, directing visual projects, writing for other artists and building a collaborative creative world that supports both her career and her loved ones.
Her long-term musical aspirations include releasing hundreds of songs, multiple projects and visuals, and performing intimate live shows that foster real connection with listeners.
